SPICE 2

Your goal is to design a discrete multi-stage transistor circuit that provides a small-signal gain of 1000 or more and maximizes the output bandwidth. Assume a load resistance of 5K tex2html_wrap_inline245 and a source resistance of 5K tex2html_wrap_inline245 . You can use a 15-Volt power supply ( tex2html_wrap_inline497 15V) and as many Q2N2222 transistors as you feel you need. Also try not to use too much power. This circuit will be used to amplify a 2mV peak-to-peak input signal without distortion. You must use resistors with standard values (see appendix H in Sedra & Smith). Only use capacitor values in the range 1 tex2html_wrap_inline499 F to 10 tex2html_wrap_inline499 F. Use the microsim PSPICE model for the Q2N2222 npn transistor for all of your simulations:

.model Q2N2222 NPN(Is=14.34f Xti=3 Eg=1.11 Vaf=74.03 BF=255.9 Ne=1.307
+ Ise=14.34f Ikf=.2847 Xtb=1.5 Br=6.092 Nc=2 Isc=0 Ikr=0 Rc=1
+ Cjc=7.306p Mjc=.3416 Vjc=.75 Fc=.5 Cje=22.01p Mje=.377 Vje=.75
+ Tr=46.91n Tf=411.1p Itf=.6 Vtf=1.7 Xtf=3 Rb=10)
This model is included in the PSPICE library so you should not have to retype these numbers. You are not allowed to use any other components, e.g. current sources, inductors, etc.

What you must turn in: You must hand in each of the following parts:

Part 1
Part 2
contains the complete hand analysis of the circuit. Every hand calculated number listed on the summary sheet (page 1) must be accounted for.
Part 3
contains the complete spice analysis of the circuit. Every spice result listed on the summary sheet (page 1) must be accounted for. This part, therefore, must include each spice output file with key numbers clearly marked.
