Short Biography

Weifeng Liu, a.k.a. Aaron, grew up in Shanghai China. He got his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2003 and 2005 respectively. He was engaged in research like optimizing motion estimation algorithms in video compression (H.264) in Bell labs Shanghai, designing a satellite communication system (designer and DSP programmer) and working on wireless communication (Turbo Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest) in SJTU. In 2005, he joined the Computational NeuroEngineering Laboratory at the University of Florida. He received his Ph.D. under the supervision of Dr. Jose Principe in areas of signal processing, adaptive filtering and machine learning. Upon his graduation, he joined the forecasting team at Amazon.com in 2008.

He is a member of IEEE, Eta Kappa Nu, and Sigma Xi. He serves as a regular reviewer for IEEE transactions on Neural Networks, IEEE transactions on Signal Processing, IEEE transactions on Industrial Informatics, IEEE Signal Processing Letters,  Signal Processing (Elsevier), and Neurocomputing (Elsevier). He is on the editorial board of Neural Processing Letters (Springer).

My first name Wei-Feng is two characters in Chinese ( ), and literally means high mountains. The meaning of Aaron is lofty, exalted, high mountains.
